In a recent NIH “Open Mike” Blog, the Federal RePORTER database was mentioned:
[The Federal RePORTER is an initiative of STAR METRICS® to create a searchable database of scientific awards from federal agencies and make this data available to the public.]
The database makes it very easy to drill down to award information by federal agency, by year, and by Institution. It can be displayed in a number of ways and allows you to export the information on funded federal projects into Excel for manipulation. It is suggested in the article that it can help you by presenting what type of research is being funded by the various agencies, as well as assist in identifying possible collaborators at MU or across the country. I’ve provided a screen shot example below of the data as presented by “topics” - one of the options available in the database:
